    PLEASE PRAY FOR MARISSA WILCOX

Marissa Wilcox was born November 7, 1996

"She was 5 weeks early and doctors knew as soon as she was born something was wrong! Her skin color was dark and yellowish they but her under lights and sent her home with blood testing daily! Then when she was one week old they put her into hospital and do testing and could not find out why and her blood count was going higher! So they decided at 7 weeks old to send her to Hershey Medical Center and without touching her they said she has a rare liver disorder called "Biliary Atresia" but we have to do all the testing before we can do surgery! And after all the testing they came to tell us she does have "Biliary Atresia" and we need to do surgery ASAP! So at 8 weeks they hooked her small intestine right to her liver so the bile will flow out! Without this surgery her waste would just flow into her liver and she would eventually die!"

"Marissa had the surgery in Jan.1997 and after surgery they told us she is still not out of the woods! She has a 5% chance to live, and it's going to take time before we know if the surgery worked and she will be ok for now,but she will need a liver transplant in future!"

"Marissa was in an out of the hospitals with infections in her liver, and that causes more damage! When she was 4 doctors said she would need a liver transplant with in 6 months! But when Marissa was 5 in kindergarden she gotten an infection in her liver, and then started to run 107 fever"s she had a rash all over her body she was swelling like a balloon! Doctors said at on hospital we took her to that there was nothing wrong with her we can't find anything! They sent in a specialist to teach her how to focus on other things to forget about the pain, and I gone to nurses station and told them either u transport my daughter to Hershey Medical Center or I will put her in my can and take her myself!!!!!!!!"

"They did and Hershey said if we waited 24 hours she would have been gone! Hershey gotten all the test this hospital done on her and they found out what was wrong with the testing they did on her she has developed another disease with the medication that they gave her at the other hospital called "Aplatic Anemia" And that she needs a bone marrow transplant and will not be able to do liver transplant with this Aplatic Anemia!"

"Well Marissa was getting blood transfusions daily and platelets as soon as they put them in they was gone, they said to us to prepare for the worse Marissa is not going to make it she needs a bone marrow transplant now and a sibling is needed to do this! We said we will have a baby to save cord blood to help Marissa. The doctor said sorry we can't wait that long she needs it now! Little did we know with all the stress and worry for Marissa we was already having a baby and I was 2 months along! Marissa keep getting worse every day she spent most of her 5 th year of life in the hospital! Then something happened and doctors do not know what why or how! Marissa started to get better they didn't have to give her blood or platelets anymore rash going away and her body going back to normal! And on Feb 6,2004 we had a baby girl and banked her cord blood for Marissa, and has never been used it is still banked and Marissa never gotten the Aplatic Anemia back as of today September 29,2011"

"Marissa was stable they took her off the transplant list she was stab from 2004-2010! SUMMER 2010 Was here school is out then Marissa started to get sick she gotten infection in her liver one after the other and in an out of the hospital now for over a year and 1/2! She gets sick with everything out there one right after another and do to her illness it takes her longer to fight it off her!"
